Program: MailSys.Exe
Author: Tom Kashuba, 167/1
Date: 22-Jun-87
Version: 1.03
_____________
___/ Background \___
MailSys is a simplistic program used to edit an existing MAIL.SYS file,
or to create a new one.
MAIL.SYS is a file required by Fido and some major Opus external accesory
programs. It defines where the FidoNet mail areas are and what the
board's prime and alternate FidoNet address are.
Please refer to your system's documentation for further details on the
necessity and use of MAIL.SYS. Eventually, it will NOT be required for
Opus accesories like Ommm, the Opus Matrix Message Masher, when they start
to use native Opus control files for that information.
Fido systems have a built-in Mail.Sys editor via the Sysop "4" command.
_________
___/ Usage \___
MailSys is meant to be run in the same directory where MAIL.SYS is, or is
intended, to be.
To run it, you simply enter:
C> MAILSYS <enter>
There are no runtime options.
When Mailsys begins execution, it looks for MAIL.SYS. If one is found,
it is read otherwise, a raw, default one is created in memory.
The MAIL.SYS information is then displayed, raw or real, and you then
are allowed to enter or change any of its fields including two special
fields called "fudge" and "rate". It is advised that you do not change
these unless you have a special need and know what you are doing. They
are defaulted to Fido standard values when a new MAIL.SYS is being created.
When you are done, use the "S" or "Q" options to save or abandon your work.

___/ Revision History \___
1.03 - 87/06/22 - Did it for everybody
1.02 - 87/03/15 - Did it for you
1.01 - 85/12/31 - Did it for me
-----
That's it. This should save a lot of people a lot of headaches when trying
to acquire or modify MAIL.SYS when they do not have a Fido System setup and
running.
